1953— Chalmers Port: Baseball, Football (Mifflintown, Pa.)
Played baseball and football at UNC. Played minor league baseball in the Milwaukee Braves’ organization, served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War and later earned his master’s from Penn State. Retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. Coached both the football and baseball teams for 10 years and just baseball for another 17 years at The Citadel. Led The Citadel to the 1990 College World Series and seven conference championships. Named National Coach of the Year in 1990 by the Sporting News. Inducted in the South Carolina Sports, The Citadel, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Charleston Baseball Halls of Fame.
