1975— Charles Waddell: Football, Men's Track and Field, Men’s Basketball (Southern Pines, N.C.)
One of the last Tar Heels to letter in three sports – a tight end in football, track and field and basketball. First-team All-ACC in 1973 and first-team All-America in 1974. Made 41 career receptions and caught seven touchdown passes. Set UNC record for tight ends with three TD catches against Clemson in 1974. Played basketball from 1972-74. Selected in the fifth round of the 1975 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers and played in the NFL with three teams. Later worked in collegiate and professional sports administration at the Big Ten, Carolina Panthers and University of South Carolina.
