1959— Dave Scurlock: Men's Track and Field (Greensboro, N.C.)
Three top-10 finishes and All-America honors in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Was second in the half mile and third in the 880 yards in 1957 and eighth in the 880 in 1958. Eleven-time ACC champion (twice each from 1957-59 in the outdoor 440 and 880 yards, three times in the indoor 880, once in the indoor 600 and the indoor mile relay). Undefeated for three seasons in ACC competition in the quarter- and half-mile.
Finished third in the mile in 1957 in the collegiate championships in a race where each of the three broke the existing collegiate record.
Served four years in the U.S. Air Force after graduation.
