1939— George Nethercutt: Baseball (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.)
A catcher, who was co-captain as a senior and batted .440. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and president of the Monogram Club. Drafted by the Boston Red Sox after graduation, he caught for minor league teams in 1939-40 in Rocky Mount, Canton, Ohio and Centerville, Ohio. He served as a US Navy Supply Officer in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a CPA in Wilmington.
