Was a three-year member of the football team from 1929 to 1931. Helped the Tar Heels go 9-1 in 1929. Two relatives Herman McIver and Charles McIver also played football for Carolina in the 1920s and 1930s. Relative of Charles Duncan McIver, the founder and first President of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an advocate for women's education, whose name graces McIver Residence Hall.
