1956— Jerry Vayda: Men’s Basketball (Bayonne, N.J.)
Led Carolina in scoring in 1954, the first season in the ACC, at 17.1 points per game and was second behind Lennie Rosenbluth a season later at 14.5 points. Scored 1,187 points as a Tar Heel. Finished his career third in scoring at UNC behind only Al Lifson and Rosenbluth. Earned second-team All-ACC in 1954 and third team both as a junior and senior. First Tar Heel to earn three All-ACC awards. Was the first player to win the Foy Roberson Award as the Most Inspirational Player twice. Served in the Air Force and became a stockbroker in New Orleans.
