2021 — Katie Hoeg: Women’s Lacrosse (Mattituck, N.Y.)
One of the most prolific scorers in NCAA women’s lacrosse history, Hoeg led the high-powered Tar Heels to a 78-12 record, four ACC championships and three trips to the national semifinals.
The Mattituck, N.Y., native finished her career as Carolina’s all-time scoring leader and No. 4 in ACC history with 370 points, an average of 4.2 per contest. She was the ACC’s all-time leader and was second in NCAA history with 233 assists. As a senior in 2021, she led the nation in assists (71) and assists per game (3.38).
She set the UNC single-season assist record with 73 in 2019 and posted the three highest single-season assist totals in Carolina history to that point.
Hoeg helped Carolina win 27 consecutive games, the longest winning streak in school history and the seventh-longest in NCAA history. The 2021 Tar Heels set the school record (since broken) with 20 wins.
The 2020 National Player of the Year, she earned first-team All-America honors in 2018, 2020 and 2021, was a second-team All-America in 2019, a three-time All-ACC selection and made the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2019 and 2021.
Hoeg received an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in 2021 and an ACC Weaver-James-Corrigan Post-Graduate Scholarship in 2020. She enrolled in UNC’s Adams School of Dentistry.
