1968— Larry Miller: Men’s Basketball (Catasauqua, Pa.)
Inducted in the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022. Earned first-team All-America, ACC Player-of-the-Year and ACC Tournament MVP honors in 1967 and 1968. Consensus first-team All-America in 1968 and second-team All-America in 1967. One of three players to ever win ACC Player-of-the-Year and Tournament MVP honors in consecutive seasons. One of only four to win ACC Tournament MVP twice. The only Tar Heel to win ACC Player of the Year twice. Standout on Dean Smith’s first two ACC championship and Final Four teams. ACC Male Athlete of the Year in 1968.
Scored in double figures a school-record 64 consecutive games. Currently seventh at UNC in scoring with 1,982 points and fifth in scoring average at 21.8 per game. One of only three Tar Heels to average 20 points a game in three seasons. Averaged 20.9 points and 10.3 rebounds in 1965-66, 21.9 points and 9.3 rebounds in 1966-67 and 22.4 points and 8.2 rebounds in 1967-68.
Scored 32 points on 13 of 14 shooting from the floor in an 82-73 victory over Duke in the 1967 ACC Tournament championship game. Led Carolina to an overall record of 70-21, including 32-10 in ACC regular-season play. UNC finished his junior season ranked No. 4 in the nation by the AP and No. 3 by the coaches and his senior year No. 4 in both polls. Those were Carolina’s first-ever consecutive seasons in the Top 10.
Played seven seasons in the ABA and set the league’s all-time single-game record with 67 points.
