2000— Lorrie Fair: Women's Soccer (Los Altos, Calif.)
Fair won the Honda Award as National Player of the Year, was a consensus first-team All-America and Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1999. She led the Tar Heels to a 24-2 record and an NCAA championship, the third of her career. She anchored a defense that allowed just 12 goals in 26 games and was named the Defensive MVP of the 1999 Final Four, the third time she made an NCAA All-Tournament team.
Fair scored 21 goals and had 37 assists in her 124-game career. She was a Freshman All-America in 1996, earned first-team All-America honors three times and was a two-time consensus first-team All-America, and was named All-ACC three times.
In 1999, Fair played on the United States National Team that won the World Cup at the Rose Bowl, played in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won a gold medal in 2004 in Athens, Greece. She was a founding member of the WUSA and was an all-star with the Philadelphia Charge.
