Women's Golfers in Fifth at Lady Gamecock Classic

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- North Carolina's women's golf team is in fifth place with a 616 total after two rounds of the Lady Gamecock Classic. Duke leads the field of 16 teams with a 581 total. Host South Carolina stands in second place at 596 while Furman is in third place at 610 and Louisiana State is fourth at 611.
Jenny Chuasiriporn of Duke distanced herself from the rest of the field after firing rounds of 66-70 for an eight-under-par 136 total. Carolina's Marcy Newton is 10 shots back in second place with a 146 total. Emma Lofgren of South Carolina is third at 147 while two Duke players are tied for fourth place with 148 totals, Beth Bauer and Kalen Anderson.
For the remainder of the Tar Heel lineup, Heather Angell stands tied for 17th place with a 153 total. Shelley McKevitt is tied for 39th place at 158 while Cuyler Buckles is in 59th place at 165 and Beth Lever is tied for 60th with a 166 total.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Sunday at The University Club which features a par 72, 5,996-yard layout.
