UNC Softball Shares Bama Bash Title

With a 9-0 win over Indiana, North Carolina claimed the tournament co-championship at the Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Ala., over the weekend. The Tar Heels compiled a 3-2 record in the tournament, losing 9-1 to host Alabama and 3-2 to Evansville (which earned the other co-championship), and beating McNeese State 8-1, Drake 3-1 and Indiana 9-0.
Sophomore pitcher Radara McHugh earned co-MVP honors after pitching all five games. She struck out 18 batters and finished with a 3-2 record.
Sophomore shortstop Michelle Semmes was also named to the All-tournament team. She went 6-for-15 over the five games, batting .400 with a home run and two doubles. Her three-run homer came in the win over Indiana.
The Tar Heels are 5-8 for the season and compete this weekend in the University of Virginia Tournament.
