1984 -- UNC Women Rip N.C. State for ACC Crown
North Carolina got 32 points from Tresa Brown and 25 from Pam Hammond in pounding N.C. State in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament championship game at Fayetteville.
The victory gave the Tar Heels their first ACC Women's Tournament championship in history.
Brown, the ACC Player of the Year, hit 14 of 20 shots from the floor, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.
Hammond, was 10 of 18 from the field and made all five of her free throw attempts. She played the entire the game without making a turnover. Carolina's other starting guard, Eileen McCann, also did not commit a turnoiver in 31 minutes of action. Both handed out five assists.
Also in double figures for Carolina was Pam Leake with 14 points on seven-of-11 field goal attempts. She also had five assists and four steals.
Carolina built a 54-44 halftime lead and the Wolfpack was never able to make a serious run after that.
The Tar Heels shot 59.1 percent from the floor, hitting 42 of 71 shots.
Linda Page led the State scoring with 28 points.
