Men's Tennis Team Earns Sixth Seed in ACC Tourney

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's tennis team has earned the sixth seed in this weekend's Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championships and will play the Clemson Tigers in a quarterfinal match on Friday morning.
Head Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels finished the regular season with an 11-13 overall mark and a 3-5 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels ended up in a four-way tie for fifth place in the ACC with Wake Forest, Florida State and N.C. State. Under the tiebreaking format the ACC employs, Carolina ended up with the #6 seed.
UNC's first match in the tournament will be played on Friday, April 23 at 9 a.m. when the Heels face off with third-seeded Clemson. This year's ACC Men's Tennis Tournament is being held at the Racquet Club of the South in Norcross, Ga., just outside Atlanta.
Clemson defeated the Tar Heels in the regular-season meeting of the teams 5-2 at Clemson, S.C. on April 10. The Tigers are 19-10 overall and 6-2 in the ACC heading into the tournament.
The winner of the UNC-Clemson match on Friday will play the winner of the #2 Georgia Tech versus #7 Florida State match on Saturday, April 24 in the semifinals of the tournament at 11 a.m. Tech and FSU play their quarterfinal match on Friday at noon.
The championship match of the tournament will be played on Sunday, April 25 at noon.
