Carolina Student-Athletes Active in Habitat for Humaity

As part of the Atlantic Coast Conference Operation Outreach, a host of University of North Carolina student-athletes are currently providing their volunteer services to the Orange County Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build '99. Following are some quick facts about the project and how you can help:

University of North Carolina and Habitat for Humanity project

Habitat's Mission: To eliminate substandard housing throughout the world

Unifying efforts of students, staff, faculty, and alumni

The house is being built Oct 2 and 3 '99

One of eleven houses being built by the end of 1999 as part of Celebration 2000

All 11 houses are being built in the same neighborhood in Orange County

House goes to a family in need in the Orange County

Habitat homes in Orange county sell for 45,000 to 65,000

No interest charged

Down payment made in hours worked on construction, called "sweat equity"
