Tar Heels Sweep UNC-Wilmington

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina softball team swept Wednesday's games at UNC Wilmington, winning 5-0 and 2-0. The Tar Heel wins marked the first time since the 1994 season that UNC Wilmington had been shut out in a double-header.
In the first game, UNC sophomore Radara McHugh limited the host Seahawks to two hits. She struck out five and walked two in earning her 13th win of the season. Junior Crystal Henderson and sophomore Beth Olen recorded two hits each for the Tar Heels.
In the second game, freshman pitcher Sarah Young earned her first win at UNC, scattering five hits and striking out three. Fellow freshmen Rosie Gustavson and Kelly Ramsey provided three hits each in the win.
The Tar Heels, now 21-14, have won 11 of their last 13 games. This weekend, they travel to Atlanta to compete in the Buzz Classic. In pool play on Friday, UNC will face Middle Tennessee State at 3 p.m. and Butler at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Carolina meets Florida A&M at 10:30 a.m. and Northeast Louisiana at 3:30 p.m. Bracket play begins Saturday at 8 p.m.
