Mick Mixon Wins State's Highest Broadcasting Honor

Mick Mixon, color analyst for the Tar Heel Sports Network, has been named the North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year. Mixon, in his eleventh year with the network, was tabbed by the prestigious National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) based out of Salisbury, N.C.
Stan Olson of the Charlotte Observer was named N.C. Sportswriter of the Year.
Mixon, who received a degree in Broadcast Journalism from UNC in 1980, will receive his award in Salisbury on Monday, May 1.
Mixon and Woody Durham, Carolina's long-time Play-by-Play announcer, are TarHeelBlue.com's newest columnists.
