Woody: We're Glad To Be Here

You've been listening to us during the game broadcasts on the Tar Heel Sports Network, but for nearly two months you may have wondered where we had gone on the Internet.
Hopefully, you were familiar with "Woody's Word" and "Mick's Bag" on another site, which was not associated with the UNC Athletic Department. That site was run by our former employer, who also produced the game broadcasts as part of a multi-media agreement with the University.
A clause in that agreement required Tar Heel Sports Marketing to produce a competing website for the UNC Athletic Department. It paid Fans Only of Carlsbad, California, to produce tarheelblue.com.
Then last fall, Jim Heavner sold Tar Heel Sports Marketing--he actually called it VilCom Sports, which was his way of condensing the name of the parent company, Village Companies-- to Learfield Communications of Jefferson City, Missouri. Learfield--which started out operating the Missouri Farm Network--actually owns 12 other collegiate properties, and has a solid reputation among its clients. They are good people, as the saying goes.
Heavner maintained control of Interactive Media, Inc., which operates goheels.com and acctoday.com, so it was left for Learfield to put its efforts into tarheelblue. com. A lot of innovative changes are planned, the first of which will have Mick and me making regular contributions. So that's where we've been, just in case you're interested, and some insight as to where we might be headed.
It goes without saying we want the Tar Heels to win every game in every sport. We will delight in telling you about the times they play well, but, just as we do on the radio, we'll tell you when they don't play so well.
I don't always know where Mick is coming from on a particular subject, and he can't guarantee what angle I might take. However, we think you'll find it interesting now that you know where to find us.
