HAMPTON, Va.
- The University of North Carolina wrestling team was eliminated from the Virginia Duals Saturday with a 20-18 loss to Virginia Tech in the consolation bracket at Hampton, Va. Despite winning six of 10 individual matches, the Hokies prevailed and dropped the Heels to 1-2 in dual meets on the season. The Tar Heels got off to a quick 12-5 start with decisions in four of the first five bouts of the match. But Virginia Tech answered with three straight wins, two of them by fall, to pull ahead of the Heels 20-12. Late wins by Clint Osborn (197) and Matt Kenny (Hwt.) provided the Heels six points, but it was not enough to top the Hokies.
