Carolina's Men's Golf Team Finishes Sixth At Duke

DURHAM, NC - North Carolina's men's golf team fired a 293 in the final round for an 886 total to finish in sixth place at the Duke Golf Classic. N.C. State captured the team title firing a 12-over-par 876 total after carding a two-over 290 on the last day. A trio of teams - Augusta State, Duke and Virginia Tech - tied for second place with 880 totals while Wake Forest finished one stroke back in fifth place at 881.
rent Wanner of Wake Forest won the individual title firing a five-under 211 total after rounds of 75-65-71. Chris Mundorf of N.C. State finished two shots back in the runner-up slot with a 213 total. Corey Brigham of Maryland finished third at 214 while Duke's Matt Krauss and Virginia Tech's Brendan De Jonge tied for fourth place at 215 and N.C. State's Mark Tullo finished sixth at even par 216.
Freshman Dustin Bray was the low Tar Heel as he tied for 10th place with a four-over 220 total. Sophomore Ramon Bescansa was one shot back at 221 in a tie for 13th place. Senior Rob Simmons tied for 24th place at 223, junior Whitten Meares tied for 29th place at 224 and freshman Richard Treis tied for 44th place at 228.
The 54-hole event was played at Duke Golf Club, which features a par 72, 7,104 yard layout.
