Chapel Hill - Pam Morrison, a former sprinter at the University of North Carolina, scored three touchdowns in the preseason win over Alabama in the first National Women's Football League game. A crowd of about 1500 fans watched the Dream defeat Alabama 30-15. The National Women's Football League currently has two teams in the league, but plan to have 12 teams by the time the regular season starts.
Morrison, a wide receiver for the Nashville Dream, attended UNC from 1992-1995. Morrison scored two touchdowns on runs of 35 and 16 yards to bring the team to 14-0 in the second quarter before Alabama rallied to 14-8 before halftime. Morrison would score again in the fourth quarter on a 51-yard run and clinch the win for the Dream.
A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Morrison competed in sprints at Carolina and was a member of the winning relay at the 1994 ACC Championships and the winning 4x100 team that won the ACC outdoor crown in 45.39. Morrison also ranked among the top five at UNC in the 55m, 200m (Indoor) and 400m during her time at Carolina.
Next up for the Dream, they will play October 28 at Huntsville, Alabama.
