Carolina over 13 seasons has had a classy helmet design--Carolina blue with a traditional interlocking "NC" on each side (modified slightly prior to the 1995 season to make the logo stand out more). John Bunting during his playing career wore a blue helmet with a smaller "NC" logo floating in an oval of white. Dick Crum moved away from the traditional school logo after one year and in 1979 outfitted the Heels in helmets with a step-down "UNC" design.
Carolina has an excellent football foundation from which Bunting will build. The current helmet presents an image seen a million times on national TV over more than a decade--I hope he'll keep the consistency and retain a similar design.
One more thing, Coach.
My bet is you'll have no use for those panty-waist blue pants that have become the norm for 1990s road games. Thankfully, Carolina's seniors in 2000 didn't either as the Heels went with white-on-white on the road their last three games.
