
Tar Heel Softball Sweeps UNC-Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Carrie Bates went four-for-five with four RBI and sophomore Natalie Anter added two home runs to lead Carolina to a doubleheader sweep of UNC-Greensboro Tuesday afternoon at Campus Field. UNC won the first game 10-0 in five innings and the second 2-0 to improve to 14-3 on the year. UNC-G fell to 10-6.
In the first game, the Tar Heels held a 2-0 lead heading into the top of the fifth, when they exploded for eight runs. Junior Michelle Semmes hit a three-run homer and was followed in the lineup by Anter, who increased the team's lead to 6-0 with her first home run of the afternoon. Two-run doubles from Bates and freshman Quinn Porter put the Tar Heels up 10-0.
Tar Heel freshman Michael Parrott allowed just four hits in improving her record to 4-1. Spartan freshman Amy Poole took the loss.
In the second game, junior pitcher Radara McHugh earned the win, giving up just two hits in seven innings. Anter accounted for all the RBI, with a double that scored senior Crystal Henderson in the first inning and a solo home run in the sixth. Freshman Amber Watson took the loss for UNC-G.
The Tar Heels are back in action on Thursday when they host South Carolina, ranked 22nd in this week's national poll. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. at Finley Field.
