Former Heels Rank 1-2-3 in Teen Popularity

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three former University of North Carolina student-athletes top the latest poll of teen popularity taken March 21-23. Former NCAA and NBA champion Michael Jordan stands at the top of the list, followed by soccer star Mia Hamm, whose popularity continues to grow among U.S. teenagers, who ranked her second only to Jordan in a survey asking "Who is your favorite athlete?"
Hamm garnered 3.5% of the total vote, behind Jordan's 9.7%, but ahead of former Tar Heel basketball star Vince Carter of the NBA's Toronto Raptors with 2.1% and Tiger Woods with 1.9%.
The survey was conducted from March 21-23 by olt Bus of over 1,000 teenagers who were pre-screened and balanced by age and gender to reflect the U.S. teen population.
The results: 1. Michael Jordan, 9.7%, 2. Mia Hamm, 3.5%, 3. Vince Carter, 2.1%, 4. Tiger Woods, 1.9%, 5. Kobe Bryant, 1.8%, Ken Griffey Jr., 1.8%, 7. Tony Hawk, 1.3%, 8. Emmitt Smith, 1.1%, Dennis Rodman, 1.1%.
Hamm is represented by Bober Associates, Inc. The company also represents World Cup Champion soccer teammates Kristine Lilly, Tisha Venturini, Kate Sobrero, Cindy Parlow, and Lorrie Fair. Hamm, Lilly, Venturini, Parlow and Fair are all former members of UNC women's soccer teams which have won 16 of the past 19 NCAA championships.
