Carlyle Cup 'Win Back Points' Provision

1) Points will be awarded proportionately and immediately based on the number of scheduled regular-season games or matches between the two schoolsports.
EXAMPLE:
The winner of the first Duke-UNC field hockey match on August 26 will receive 1˝ points in the standings. The remaining 1˝ points will be awarded after the second regular-season match on October 1.
2) A schoolsport winning a regular-season series will retain the points unless there is another head-to-head game in post-season. Ultimately, the points are winner-take-all based on the total school year series.
EXAMPLE:
Duke's soccer team defeats UNC in the only regular-season game, and it receives 3 points. If the two teams do not meet again in the post-season, Duke keeps the 3 points.
3) A schoolsport can "win back" half and/or all of the points through head-to-head match-ups in the post-season.
EXAMPLE:
UNC's soccer team defeats Duke in the ACC Tournament and "wins back" 1˝ points. (Should the teams meet again in the NCAA Tournament, the victorious team "wins back" the 1˝ points to capture all 3 points because it ultimately won the school year series.)
4) If a regular-season series is split, each schoolsport receives 1˝ points. If those teams were to meet in the ACC or NCAA Tournament, the victor would "win back" the 1˝ points for a total of 3 points.
EXAMPLE:
UNC and Duke split regular-season basketball games for 1˝ points each. Duke beats UNC in the ACC Tournament to "win back" 1˝ points from UNC for a total of 3 points. (If they were to meet again in the NCAA Tournament, and UNC won, the school year series would wind up even and the 3 points would again be split 1˝-1˝ .)
