Carolina Moves Up In Sears Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The North Carolina athletic program moved up 13th spots in the latest Sears Directors' Cup standings released Thursday. These were the second group of fall sports standings. Two more fall sports updates will be released at later dates.
Carolina now stands fourth with 175 points. Stanford has already assumed a big lead in the standings with 311 points. Michigan is second with 183 points, BYU third with 180, Carolina fourth with 175, Colorado fifth with 162, UCLA seventh with 161, Virginia seventh with 159, NC State eighth with 149, Portland ninth with 140 and Notre Dame 10th with 131.
Amongst other ACC schools Wake Forest is 11th with 128 points, Maryland 18th with 110 points, Duke tied for 26th with 74 points, Clemson tied for 40th with 50 points, Florida State tied for 53rd with 30 points and Georgia Tech tied for 62nd with 26 points.
In the five sports counted so far Carolina received 90 points for finishing second in women's soccer, 65 points for finishing seventh in women's cross country and 20 points for finishing ninth in field hockey.
