ATHENS, GA - North Carolina's Women's Golf team find themselves alone in 16th place following the first round of the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic. The Tar Heels shot a team score of 326 in the first round. Duke University stands atop the team scoreboard after firing a round of 291 which is 3-over par. The University of Texas is in second trailing Duke by eleven strokes after carding a team score of 302. The University of Georgia finished with a round of 304 while the University of Alabama and Wake Forest round out the top six coming in with rounds of 310 and 314.
In individual play, North Carolina is led by junior Shelley McKevitt who scored a five-over-par 77 placing her in 19th. Freshman Ashley Prange carded a first round score of 79 placing her with eight others in 35th.
The second round will resume tomorrow. The tournament is held at the University of Georgia Golf Course, which is a par 72-course consisting of 6,014 yards.
