Michael Parrott Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

UNC sophomore Michael Parrott has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in her career.A right-hander from Houston, Texas, she threw two complete game shutouts last week, 5-0 against Furman on Feb. 27 and 5-0 at UNC Wilmington on March 1.
Parrott gave up just six hits and struck out 13 of the 49 batters she faced to improve to 6-0 on the season. In the game at UNC-W, she helped her own cause with a solo home run, her first of the spring. For the season, she has an ERA of 0.81 with 50 strikeouts, 1.2 per inning. She is batting .154 with six RBI.
This week's ACC Player of the Week honors went to Lindsay Wood of Georgia Tech.
North Carolina (13-3-1) hosts Evansville for single games on Tuesday and Wednesday before departing for tournaments in Oklahoma and California over Spring Break.
