Carolina Dedicates Tennis Stadium

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Educational Foundation, Inc. and the University of North Carolina Department of Athletics officially dedicated the Rauch Sisters Stadium on Monday, April 2, 2001 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The stadium is a gift from Ingrid Rauch Sturm of Las Vegas, Nev., a 1970 Carolina alumna, and her sister, Stephanie Rauch of Charlotte, N.C., a 1985 UNC graduate.
Ingrid Sturm and Stephanie Rauch both played varsity tennis at the University of North Carolina. Ingrid played for legendary coach Frances Hogan and Stephanie played for Hogan's long-time successor, Kitty Harrison. They are the daughters of former North Carolina State Senator Marshall Rauch and his wife, Jeanne, of Gastonia, N.C.
Several members of the Rauch family were present at Monday's ceremonies. This group included Stephanie Rauch, Ingrid Rauch Sturm and Larry Sturm, Senator Marshall and Jeanne Rauch, Pete and Vicky Rauch, Natillie, Lauren and Julian Rauch, Maxine Dewhurst, Josh White and J.W. Isenhour.
Carolina athletic department officials in attendance were Athletic Director Dick Baddour, Associate Athletic Director Beth Miller, Educational Foundation President John Montgomery, Educational Foundation consultant Moyer Smith and women's tennis coach Roland Thornqvist.
