Pairings Set For ACC Softball

Following the final regular season games last weekend, pairings have been set for the 2001 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship, which begins Friday at Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh. North Carolina is the tournament host.
Action begins at 3 p.m. when fourth-seeded Georgia Tech (24-27, 2-6 ACC) faces fifth-seeded Maryland (37-21, 1-7 ACC). At 5 p.m., second-seeded North Carolina (34-17-1, 6-2 ACC) plays third-seeded Virginia (51-15, 4-4 ACC). At 7 p.m., top-seeded Florida State (52-8, 7-1 ACC) plays the winner of the Georgia Tech-Maryland game.
Games continue at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. If needed to determine the championship in the double-elimination format, Game 9 will be played at 4:30 p.m.

Game 6 (Game 4 winner vs. Game 3 loser) 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 13
Game 7 (Game 5 loser vs. Game 6 winner) 11 a.m.
Game 8 (Game 5 winner vs. Game 7 winner) 1 p.m.
Game 9, if needed (Rematch of Game 8) 4:30 p.m.
Admission (Day pass):
Adults and youths 13 and older: $5
No admission charge for children 12 and under
Players wearing uniforms of their youth teams will be admitted free of charge.
Directions to Walnut Creek Softball Complex
From the West (Durham, Chapel Hill and Greensboro): Take I-40 East to Raleigh. Take Exit 301 onto I-440 (left lanes). Follow I-440 to Poole Road, Exit 15. Turn left at the top of the exit ramp and left onto Sunnybrook Road. The entrance to the park will be on your left, at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.
From the East (Rocky Mount, Greenville, Wilson): Take U.S. 64 West to the Raleigh Beltline (1-440). Follow 64 West onto the Beltline to Poole Road (Exit 15). Turn right at the top of the exit ramp and left onto Sunnybrook Road. The entrance to the park will be on your left, at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.
From the Southeast (Wilmington, Goldsboro): Take I-40 West to Raleigh. From I-40, take Exit 301 onto I-440 North. Follow I-440 North to Poole Road, Exit 15. Turn left at the top of the exit ramp and left onto Sunnybrook Road. The entrance to the park will be on your left, at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.
From the South (Fayetteville): Take I-95 North to I-40 West. From I-40, take Exit 301 onto I-440 North. Follow I-440 North to Poole Road, Exit 15. Turn left at the top of the exit ramp and left onto Sunnybrook Road. The entrance to the park will be on your left, at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.
