Johnson, Paul Ready To Open Doubles Play At Wimbledon

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina assistant men's tennis coach and former Carolina star performer Don Johnson begins his quest for the Wimbledon doubles championship this week fresh off his fourth ATP Tour doubles win of the season.
UNC head coach Sam Paul is in Wimbledon for the next two weeks to coach Johnson and his doubles partner Jared Palmer, a former Stanford star, in their quest at the All England Tennis Club.
A year ago Johnson won the mixed doubles crown.
Johnson and Palmer, the reigning world professional doubles champions, have won four tournaments on the ATP Tour in 2001. The duo won at Scottsdale, Arizona on March 5, at Barcelona, Spain on April 23, at Mallorca, Spain on April 30 and most recently at Nottingham, United Kingdom on June 24.
Johnson and Palmer defeated Andrew Kratzmann and Paul Hanley in the doubles final at Nottingham by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
