Make Up Dates Announced For Athletic Events

Carolina has announced the following make-up dates as a result of all athletic competition being cancelled through Saturday.
Football: UNC's home-opener with SMU has been postponed. The game will now be played on Dec. 1.
Men's Soccer: The 2001 installment of its annual Nike Carolina Classic has been cancelled. Instead, the Tar Heels will host UNC Greensboro on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
The Spartans were scheduled to take part in the Nike Carolina Classic but were not originally slated to play the Tar Heels. West Virginia and New Hampshire, the other two teams scheduled to participate in the Nike Classic, will not make the trip to Chapel Hill this weekend.
Women's Soccer: The UNC women's soccer team will now play Clemson on Thursday, October 18 at 5 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 12.
The October 18 game comes during UNC's fall break. It will be played at Fetzer Field.
Volleyball: This weekend's Carolina/Nike Classic has been cancelled. The Tar Heels will instead open their 2001 home slate versus William & Mary Sunday at 1 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium.
Field Hockey: The top-ranked Tar Heels, scheduled to play No. 2 Old Dominion Saturday and Virginia Sunday, will not play this weekend. Games had been rescheduled for Sunday against Wake Forest and Monday against Old Dominion, but have been cancelled for logistical reasons. UNC will return to action Saturday, Sept. 22, against Kent State at 1:30 p.m.
Men's and Women's Cross Country: The Wake Forest Invitational, scheduled to take place on Saturday, had been rescheduled for Sunday but has since been cancelled. Carolina will replace the meet by running at the Great American Cross Country Meet in Rock Hill, S.C. on Friday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
