Carolina Wrestlers Go 1-1 At First Day Of Virginia Duals.

The UNC wrestling team defeated Virginia Tech 30-12 to open up dual-meet season Friday at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va. The Tar Heels fell to No. 9 Missouri 9-37 in their second match of the day.
Chris Rodrigues (125 pounds) went undefeated for Carolina winning both contests by decision. The Tar Heels used pins by Matt Kenny (heavyweight) in 2:45 and Austin Wall (197 pounds) in 1:39 to defeat the Hokies. Mark Canty (174 pounds) won by a 15-3 major decision, while Mike Booth (149 pounds), James O'Connor (157 pounds) and Rodrigues won by decision.
Against the ninth-ranked Tigers, Evan Sola (133 pounds) won by a 16-0 technical fall in a time of 5:14 and Rodrigues took a 4-2 decision.
The Tar Heels are back in action Saturday facing Indiana at 10 a.m.
