Meredith Krull is a senior from Raleigh and a member of the UNC rowing team. Throughout the year, she will provide TarHeelBlue.com readers with an inside look at her team and the experience of being a varsity athlete at North Carolina.
Almost every day Carolina rowers have been taking erg tests and reaching their personal targets.
On Monday we took another 2k test as a team, and multiple season records were set. Jeanette Crets, Amy Scheffel and Grace Wallenborn, among many others, all set personal records by a substantial amount of time. You guys are awesome!
I am pleased to announce that on Tuesday we were able to put two 4+'s on the water for the first time this spring. Those that have not yet met their targets are still on the erg, they are training diligently so they too can practice on the water.
What's been really great is that although the team is apart for some practices, everyone continues to support each other through high-fives and encouraging words. I'm sure that with the combination of the erg workouts and our teammates' support we will have two eights on the water soon.
Keep logging on to find out more about our progress, and remember to email me (mlk@email.unc.edu) with any questions you want me to answer in coming columns. Have a great week!
Yours in Carolina Blue,
Mer
