Carolina To Host Region II Tennis Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina will once again be the host for the Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association Region II Indoor Championships in 2002. Play at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center will be held October 23-27, 2002.
The structure of the tournament will call for a qualifying phase and a main draw phase.

WEDNESDAY
32 singles matches (rd. of 64) qualifying (8:00 am start time)
16 singles matches (rd. of 32) qualifying
16 doubles matches (rd. of 32) qualifying
3:00 pm main draw singles and doubles draw are produced using TMS software
(Tournament referee, ITA Region II committee member, and tournament administrator)
THURSDAY
8 singles matches (rd. of 16) qualifying (9:00 am start time)
8 doubles matches (rd. of 16) qualifying
4 doubles matches (quarterfinals) qualifying
3:00 pm MANDATORY COACHES MEETING (A fine may be involved)
16 doubles matches (rd. of 32) main draw (4:00 pm start time)
8 doubles matches (rd. of 16) main draw
Note: There is a chance that a qualifier would play 1 singles match and 4 doubles matches in one day. If a qualifier is faced with a 4th doubles match the tournament could delay that match until the next day; however, the tournament could put a main draw player in the position of playing two (2) singles matches and two (2) doubles matches in a day.
