Schmidt, Kneipper Headline ACC Honor Roll

NCAA 800-meter track champion Alice Schmidt and men's soccer College Cup Most Valuable Player Ryan Kneipper headline a list of 249 University of North Carolina student-athletes named to the 46th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll includes student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full 2001-02 academic year.
Duke led the league in total selections, placing 332 on the list; Carolina was second with 249. Virginia was third with 200 and Maryland was fourth with 198, followed by Clemson (190), Florida State (187), NC State (169), Georgia Tech (113) and Wake Forest (93). The 2001-02 Honor Roll contains a record 1,731 performers.
Second-team All-America and Academic All-America Porter Wilkinson of the women's lacrosse team is one of 11 Tar Heels who made the ACC Honor Roll for the fourth time. Joining Wilkinson on that prestigious list are: Andrew Biedrzycki (men's swimming), Jeanette Crets (rowing), Kristin DePlatchett (women's soccer), Jennifer Gardner (women's swimming), Susan Hayes (field hockey), Melissa Higgins (volleyball), Matt Rabil (men's lacrosse), Dash Victor (men's track), Jessica Wilson (women's lacrosse) and Sarah Young (softball).
Matt Crawford, a member of the men's soccer NCAA All-Tournament Team, is one of 33 UNC student-athletes who are appearing on the Honor Roll for the third time. Swimmer Katie Hathaway, an Academic All-America and a seven-time All-America in the pool, is also a three-time honoree.
