Finley Golf Course Receives High Rankings

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Course received additional accolades recently as it was voted the best of the new or renovated courses in the Piedmont by the North Carolina Magazine Golf Panel.
While Finley Golf Course was voted the best "new generation" course - courses that have opened since 1995 - in the Piedmont area, there were three additional areas in the state. Trillium Golf Couse in Cashiers was the top course in the mountains, Pinehurst No. 4 in Pinehurst was the best course in the sandhills region and Tiger's Eye at Sunset Beach was voted the top coastal course. Trailing Finley in the Piedmont area was Tobacco Road in Sanford and The Point which is located in Lake Norman.
Overall, Finley Golf Course was rated sixth in the Piedmont's Top 10 Courses. The Piedmont's complete top 10 is as follows: 1. Old North State, New London; 2, Charlotte Country Club, Charlotte; 3. Quail Hollow Country Club, Charlotte; 4. Treyburn, Durham; 5. Tanglewood (Championship), Clemmons; 6. Finley Golf Course, Chapel Hill; 7. Governors Club, Chapel Hill; 8. Duke University Golf Club, Durham; 9. Sedgefield Country Club, Greensboro; 10. Tobacco Road, Sanford.
In the voting of the top courses in North Carolina, Finley was No. 22. Pinehurst No. 2 was the top-ranked course. Besides Finley, the other courses in the triangle area in the top 25 are: Treyburn, Durham (No. 17), Governors Club, Chapel Hill (No. 23) and Duke Golf Club, Durham (No. 25).
