Santa Clara, Calif. ----- The University of North Carolina started its West coast road trip with an easy 7-0 win over Santa Clara on Sunday evening. The Tar Heels did not lost a single set during the match, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles.
North Carolina, ranked 12th in the country, remains in the Bay Area for a dual match at California on Thursday.
"North Carolina has an outstanding program with four players ranked among the top 110 in the nation so we knew this was really going to be a tough test for us," said Santa Clara Head Coach Aby Ryan. "But, in the end North Carolina's strength really wore us down."
