CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina signed Taylor Fogleman to a National Letter of Intent during the fall signing period and Fogleman will become a part of the Tar Heel men's tennis program in the fall of 2005. Fogleman ranks as one of the top ranked players in the country this year in his age grouping. A native of New Orleans, La. Fogleman won the Southern Closed Championships in 2003. He was ranked No. 1 in the South in the Boys' 16s.
"Taylor was our top recruit and someone we became more and more impressed with as we got to know him throughout the recruiting process," commented UNC head men's tennis coach Sam Paul. "He will be a great addition to us academically and athletically."
Fogleman won the 2004 Copper Bowl singles championship and he won the National Open in Tallahassee in July 2004. Most recently, Fogleman reached the semifinals in singles and was the doubles runner-up last week at the National Open in St. Louis, Mo.
