The Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning Staff Fall Semester Performance Awards
February 11, 2004 | General
Feb. 11, 2004
A new testing battery has been developed by the strength and conditioning staff to objectively assess a variety of athletic performance variables. The variables selected focus on the essential components of athleticism. Each athlete's upper and lower body power, upper and lower body strength, flexibility, speed and acceleration, agility, and aerobic and anaerobic endurance will be measured and assessed according to the established scoring criteria.
Each athlete as well as each team will be ranked according to their scoring average. Individual awards will be given to athletes from each team with the highest average point total. An individual top ten list will be established to identify those athletes who achieved the top scoring averages. Teams will be rank ordered based on their average point total. Each team will be tested during their off-season training period.
A more detailed explanation of the scoring system along with top lists for males and females can be found on the strength and conditioning portion of the TarHeelBlue.com website. Below is a list of the top individual performers for each of the teams that have completed the testing battery.
