
Carolina Women's Tennis Beats Wisconsin At Indoor Nationals

No. 10 Tar Heels defeated No. 64 Wisconsin 5-2 in the consolation quarterfinals of the U.S. Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Women's Team Indoor Championships being held at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
UNC swept doubles play to take a 1-0 lead in the match before heading into singles action where it won four out of six matches in straight sets. UNC clinched the match at No. 2 with a win by senior Lee Bairos over Shana McElroy by 6-3, 6-4. The other singles wins came from junior Kendall Cline at No. 4, freshman Sara Anundsen in the No. 5 flight and senior Kendrick Bunn at No. 6.
Nationally ranked, No. 34 Aniela Mojzis of the Tar Heels was upset in singles play by Katie McGaffigan 6-4, 6-1. The Badger's Lindsay Martin served UNC its second loss of the day with her win over No. 98 Caitlin Collins by 6-3, 6-3.
UNC advances to the consolation semifinals of tournament play where it will meet Harvard on Saturday at 9 a.m. UNC improves to 4-1 on the season. Wisconsin will play 23rd-ranked Tennessee on Saturday.
