2004 Rams Club Mini-Tour Information

The Rams Club kicks off the 2004 Golf Mini-Tour on May 3. This is the 10th anniversary of the Mini-Tour, which was established as an opportunity for Rams Club members to join their fellow contributors for an enjoyable afternoon of golf at various selected courses. Over the years, the tour has covered the state of North Carolina, ranging from the Outer Banks to the mountains in Cashiers, while also visiting Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia. From an original lineup of four tournaments, the tour has expanded to eight regular tournaments, followed by a Tournament Players Championship which consists of the top 60 finishers in the point standings, which are determined by a combination of participation, individual performance and team success.
At the end of the regular tour, the player with the most points is awarded the Nantucket Cup, and chooses the prize of his choice. Prizes have ranged from a set of irons and a bag to various weekend trips to Carolina football and basketball games, and valuable sports collectibles.
The top 20 finishers receive prizes. The format for the first eight tournaments is Superball for foursomes. Teams are determined by handicaps, although two players can be on the same team by request. The Tournament Players Championship is based on individual play, using a modified Stableford system.
For the second year, Carlyle and Co., sponsors of the Carlyle Cup, is providing a Rolex watch to the winner of a drawing from the closest-to-the-pin winners on the most difficult par three hole on each of the nine tournaments. Each proximity winner also receives a Rolex Gift Bag provided by Carlyle and Co.
Cowan Griffin is the defending Nantucket Cup Champion, while Jay Younce is the Tournament Players Championship defender.
