In 2003-04, Carolina finished seventh nationally in the NACDA Directors Cup, tops among Atlantic Coast Conference schools. This is the third consecutive year in which the Tar Heels have placed in the top eight and the 10th time in the 11-year history of the award Carolina has been No. 1 among all ACC schools. Carolina's previous Director's Cup finishes were: 1st in 1994, 2nd in 1995, 6th in 1996, 2nd in 1997, tied 2nd in 1998, tied 17th in 1999, 5th in 2000, 15th in 2001, 4th in 2002 and 8th in 2003.
