Five Top-Three Finishes Highlight Niswonger Day One

Five members of the University of North Carolina women's track and field team turned in top-three finishes Friday in the first day of competiton at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tennessee. Erin Donohue led the way by winning the 800 meters, narrowly besting teammate Georgia Kloss in 2:10.11.
Alison McGinnis finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-5 3/4, while Sheena Gordon took third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-1 1/4. Kelly Fazekas continued the team's success in the field events with a third-place throw of 46-2 1/2 in the shot put.
In the final event of the night, the Tar Heel women qualified second in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:46.91.
Action at East Tennessee State's David E. Walker track resumes tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
