UNC Women's Tennis Edges Wake Forest 4-3

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 16th-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team grabbed its second conference win of the season with a 4-3 win over No. 31 Wake Forest Thursday afternoon. The Tar Heels move to 13-6 and 2-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Carolina won the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and 3 seeds.
Seniors Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis, the nation's fifth-ranked doubles team, moved to 23-5 after beating Ashlee Davis and Katie Martzolf 9-7 at the No.1 seed.
At the No. 3 seed, Caitlin Collins and Tanja Markovic came away with an 8-4 win over Offutt/Schwartz. The match against the Demon Deacons marked the first time Collins and Markovic have teammed in doubles play this season.
In singles action, sophomore Jenna Long won her fourth straight match at the No. 3 seed where she took a three-set victory over Wake Forest's Martzolf. Long won 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 and moves to 28-5 on the season.
Other Tar Heels with victories were 27th-ranked Mojzis and Anundsen. At the No. 1 seed, Mojzis defeated 66th-ranked Davis 6-1, 7-5. At the No. 5 seed, Anundsen defeated the Demon Deacons' Danielle Schwartz 6-2, 6-3.
Carolina returns to action at home at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center this Saturday, April 2. The Tar Heels take on Florida State at 10 a.m. and Elon at 4 p.m.
