Former UNC Golfer Meaghan Francella Earns Spot In Finals Of LPGA Qualifying School

Chapel Hill, N.C. - Meaghan Francella, a member of Carolina's 2003 and 2004 golf teams, concluded the 2005 FUTURES Tour season in 15th place on the Tour's money list. This feat advances her to the finals of the LPGA Qualifying School, enabling her to skip local qualifying. She played in 17 FUTURES Tour events this year, posted a 72.37 scoring average while earning $16,023.
Francella posted nine top-25 and seven top-20 finishes on the FUTURES Tour in 2005. Her top performance was a tie for third place at the Northwest Indiana FUTURES Golf Classic in May.
While at Carolina, Francella was a first-team All-America and All-ACC selection in 2004. She won two collegiate tournaments while at Carolina - the 2003 ACC Championship and the 2004 NCAA East Regional. She was runner-up at the 2004 ACC Championship.
