Carolina Women Run To 14th Place At Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Spearheaded by sophomore Brianna Felnagle's 14th-place time, the University of North Carolina women's cross country team finished 14th in the women's White Race at the NCAA Pre-National meet hosted by Indiana State University Saturday. Felnagle posted a 6K time of 20:35 on the course that will host the NCAA Championships in November and was joined by junior Megan Kaltenbach, who ran a 20:58 to finish 36th, as top-40 finishers for the Tar Heels.
North Carolina scored 419 points on the day, which placed them four spots ahead of No. 14 Washington and three positions better than No. 15 Oklahoma State. Rounding out the scoring for the Tar Heels were senior Cassie King, who finished 83rd in 21:35, sophomore Laura Cummings, who finished 136th in 22:02 and junior Addie Bracy, who finished 150th in 22:13.
Junior Emily Hoffman, 204th in 22:46, and sophomore Morgan Stengel, 225th in 23:04, also competed for Carolina.
The NC State women claimed the team crown in the White Race, collecting 117 points. The Wolfpack were led by Julia Lucas, whose 20:02 time earned her individual honors.
The Carolina women now have two weeks to prepare for the Oct. 28 ACC Championships.
