
Tar Heels Eliminated At ITA Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio --- North Carolina seniors Jenna Long and Sara Anundsen were eliminated from the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Friday at The Racquet Club of Columbus. Long won her first match of the day to advance to the quarterfinals, while the doubles tandem lost their first match of the day.
Long, ranked No. 27 in the nation by the ITA, opened the day with a win over LSU's Megan Falcon. Long won the first set 7-6 (7-1) before Falcon retired at 2-1 in the second. Long then faced William and Mary's eighth-seeded Megan Moulton-Levy in the quarterfinals. Moulton-Levy, who is ranked 10th in the nation, triumphed in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
In doubles action, Long and Anundsen fell to Kentucky's Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk in the quarterfinals, 8-2. The loss marked Long and Anundsen's second setback in as many tournaments to the Wildcat duo.
Next up for Carolina is the annual UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational Nov. 10-12.
