No. 3 Tar Heels Overpower No. 61 Florida State, 6-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 3 North Carolina women's tennis teamed picked up its 17th win of the season and second Atlantic Coast Conference win over No. 61 Florida State Wednesday. The Tar Heels improved their record to 17-2, 2-0 on the season, while the Seminoles fell to 8-6, 1-3 in their fourth ACC match-up.
North Carolina jumped off to a 1-0 lead over Florida State winning all three doubles matches. The No. 7-ranked duo of Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, gained its 24th victory of the season with an 8-4 win over Suzi Mansour and Ania Rynarzewska. The tandem leads the Tar Heels in doubles action.
In singles action, the Tar Heels picked up five points with wins from the one, two, three, four and six seeds. No. 25 Jenna Long improved her singles leading record to 23-7 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ania Rynarzewska. At the two seed, No. 64 Caitlin Collins cruised past Alina Mihailescu, 6-4, 6-3, marking her 19th win of the season. No. 97 Sara Anundsen downed Nicola Slater in the third set, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (3), to improve her season record to 19-6. Freshmen Austin Smith and Meg Fanjoy gained their 24th and 14th wins over Tapiwa Morobela and Lisa Nystom-Skold, respectively.
The No. 3 Tar Heels continue their road action and ACC play heading to Coral Gables, Fla. on Friday, March 17 to take on 13th-ranked Miami.
