No. 12 Tar Heels Host No. 10 Clemson Saturday and No. 27 Georgia Tech

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina's men's tennis team will be looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season when the No. 12 Tar Heels host No. 10 Clemson Saturday and No. 27 Georgia Tech Sunday in outdoor matches at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
UNC is 15-1 overall and 0-1 in the ACC heading into this weekend's matches. UNC is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season which occurred this past Tuesday when No. 31 Wake Forest upset the No. 12 Tar Heels 4-3 in an indoor match at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Admission is free to the public and parking is abnundant in close proximity to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Saturday's Match Notes
Saturday's match will be a meeting of two of the hottest teams in the country. Clemson has won 13 of their last 14 matches, while the Tar Heels have won 15 of their first 16 contests.
The Clemson series is all even 10-10 during the Sam Paul coaching era at UNC, with nine of those 20 matches having been decided by 4-3 scores.
This is the first meeting since 1992 when both teams have been ranked in the top 25. On April 6, 1992, No. 8 Carolina defeated No. 18 Clemson 7-2. It is also the highest ranked Tiger team that Carolina has faced since 1989, when No. 9 Clemson defeated UNC 6-3.
The ACC has five teams ranked in the top 15 in the country. No other conference has more than two.
Raian Luchici and Brad Pomeroy continue to be be the highest ranked doubles team in the conference. Pomeroy/Luchici have been ranked No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and currently are No. 6 in the country. No other ACC doubles team has been ranked higher than eighth this season.
