Tar Heels Remain in Second After Two Rounds of Chrysler Challenge

DESTIN, FLA. - Senior Katie Miller was one of three players to notch a two-over 73 as the Tar Heels solidified their hold on second place entering the final round of the Chrysler Challenge. Miller dropped four strokes of her opening round 77 to move up a spot to claim sole possession of fourth place. The Jeannette, Pa. native sits just three strokes back of leader Caroline Westrup and two back of Lacey Agnew both from current tournament leader Florida State.
The Seminoles posted a combined 298 on Sunday to increase their lead to 20 strokes over the second place Tar Heels. The College of Charleston mad the biggest move of the second round dropping 18 shots off their first round total to move into third. In-state rivals Ole Miss and Mississippi State round out the top five in fourth and fifth.
Three other Tar Heels carded rounds in the 70s in the second round with sophomores Lauren Hunt and Sydney Crane and junior Colette Lowe posting identical seven-over 78s. All three will find themselves in the top twenty as the final round commences Monday. North Carolina is one of two teams to have four players in the top 18.
The third and final round of the Chrysler Challenge tees off tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
